FAMI is a non-profit corporation founded by Niles Perlas, CRNA and friends in 1999 at New York City. FAMI brings American and Filipino American physicians, nurses and other medical professionals to the Philippines  to serve the poor.  FAMI partners with local medical groups and other non-government organizations to maximize its service to the poor.
After ten years of successful medical and surgical missions, FAMI is now setting up new goals for its organization. FAMI will now concentrate on smaller specialized surgical missions in partnership with local surgical teams.  FAMI has found that conducting joint surgical mission creates enormous learning experience and understanding among the healthcare practitioners.  FAMI will continue to support and encourage these exchange of knowledge and friendship among the volunteers while performing life changing surgeries for the poor.
